I've been a member of many online communities. Got bored with most of them though. But not StumbleUpon. I signed up in october 2003 and I'm still stumbling. Although I don't use it as much for stumbling on sites other stumblers found (using the Stumle! button), that feature is great for discovering new sites. You can stumble all the sites your SU friends found, or stumble on a category basis.

There's a lively community, with lots of groups (by interest) that all have a forum attached. You can send pages to your friends, as well as messages, to go with the page you're sending, or using their messaging system. The messages sent through the messaging system, show up in your inbox, and if you're a sponsor (highly recommended, and it's not that expensive either), you can have the entire message forwarded to your email account.

Each member also has a blog attached to their account. I mostly use mine for easy photoblogging, but there are numerous ways to turn your blog into a highly personal and original place, where others will love to dwell ...

Although the StumbleUpon community isn't a competitive one, I have to admit I'm kind of proud I'm on the Top Stumblers shortlist, for weeks and weeks in a row. I'm happy to have over 700 SU friends, and over 100 reviews of my StumbleUpon blog.

I dare to say the StumbleUpon community keeps me sane, in times when I'm rather depressed. Struggling with life, with my past and the question of who I am and what I want out of life (and how to get what I want), often torn between irreconcilable options, feeling sad and lost, I always return to StumbleUpon and the people I met over there.

Come visit me over there, and let me show you some of the treasures I find in this wonderful world that is the internet.

main profile

(most elaborate and updated profile)

the world in black and white

(it doesn't always have to be colourful to be pretty or interesting)

all things sweet and cute

(because we all need tenderness and love)

more erotic or explicit

(yet still tasteful, no mainstream porn)

"StumbleUpon is a community-oriented and personalized approach to web surfing. Offering users (Stumblers) a free service to easily discover great web sites, StumbleUpon is not a search engine or directory, but a browser add-on which automates "word of mouth" recommendations of quality web sites. The people-driven technology combines human recommendations with machine learning of personal preferences and interests to filter through the vast amount of information on the web and direct users to relevant, high-quality web sites."

NOTE: "Multiple StumbleUpon accounts held by the same individual are subject to termination unless expressly authorized by StumbleUpon."

WordPress at Multiply is a brandnew community with a lot of potential, in my humble opinion, and this regardless of the fact I founded it *grin*

You can find a collection of templates over there, with a screenshot for each template, so it's easy to see whether it's a design you like or not. With each template, there's a link to where you can download it. And of course, credit is given were credit is due.

Hopefully it will be a very lively community, and a nice addition to the official WordPress support forums.
